DAN KRUSE AUCTIONS

It was a last minute decision to head out to Fredericksburg, Texas for the 2008 Kruse Auction . The Hill Country weather was perfect and the auction was held in a nice new facility. Unlike some of the more famous auctions, Dan Kruse runs a little less formal event but still professionally done.

Here some shots of the variety of cars that day.

This 32 Ford Sedan Delivery street rod was well done in silver with a nice flame graphic down the side.

A 1947 Studebaker features the design cues by legendary automotive designer Virgil Exner. The Studebaker slogan, "First by far with a postwar car" was well born out by their styling.

Someone put a lot of work into this 1956 Chevrolet custom pickup. It had unique styling incorporating Cadillac parts, bold graphics and was detailed throughout.

There was nothing mild about this 1957 Ford Ranchero custom. From the purple paint with extreme bright yellow flames to the fuel injected 302 engine.

There is something about the mid year Plymouth Barracudas with a notchback roof line that still strike a cord with me. The 1967 was 2 inches longer and offered many more engine options.
1967 was a great year for classic automotive design. This Buick 2 door hardtop has that great stance, lean forward styling and muscle car look.

Even foreign cars seemed to have more attractive lines. The 1967 Sunbeam looked sporty in red and with the addition of a Ford small block engine to the Tiger model it would cook the tires off. The VW Beetle, like this 1979 convertible, wasn't all that fast but it was so popular that Volkswagen went back to the concept with a new generation of cars.

For a quick trip to the Texas Hill Country, there was plenty of great cars to see. Kruse has since moved his spring auction to San Antonio but I'm sure it's still full of great classic cars at affordable prices.
